01 · Who you'll be talking to

Mahcool is one person.

I'm Michael Saunders. My route here wasn't a straight line: I started out in the games industry and studied game development, worked in hospitality while freelancing as a graphic and web designer, and then found my trade in timber imports: the orders, the ports, the hauliers, the spreadsheets that hold it all together.

It turns out that's a useful mix. Games teach you how systems fit together. Design teaches you how people actually use them. Hospitality teaches you what busy really means. And the timber trade showed me what it costs when none of those lessons have reached a business's software.

Because in the trade I kept noticing the same thing: people who were seriously good at their jobs, served by systems that couldn't talk to each other. Fixing that used to mean hiring developers and learning to speak their language. Most businesses, sensibly, never did.

AI removed that barrier. So I built the connected environment I always wished we'd had, the one the case studies on this site are drawn from. Mahcool exists to help other businesses build theirs, and then to get out of the way.

One more thing, honestly stated: when this site says "we", it means me, and you. That's rather the point.

02 · What we believe

We don’t build systems for businesses.
We build businesses that can build their own systems.

Software comes and goes.
Understanding is the asset that stays.

Your expertise. Amplified.
Not replaced.

The kettle's always on.

One honest conversation about how your business actually runs. If I can't help, I'll say so.
